Viewing Puzzle Details

Whilst the puzzle details are concise in the general listing view, you can also access an individual puzzle to se more detailed information.

Viewing detailed puzzle information
To view more detail of a single puzzle, you just need to tap on the puzzle record. This will display the screen below, which will provide a wealth of information and options.

Some records will be more comprehensive than others, when the submitter has completed most of the puzzle record fields.
Other puzzles may look basic, if only mandatory fields have been completed, as the detail view will only show data if a field has been filled out.

Puzzle Title & Release Year

At the top, you'll see the puzzle’s title and its release year.

The title/name is a mandatory field, so it will always be displayed, whilst  release year is optional, and will appear only if available.

Artist Information

Below the puzzle's title, the artist's name is shown. Next to it, you'll find a small icon—clicking it will bring up a list of all IPDb puzzles by the same artist.

Collection Name

This data is not always shown, as not every puzzle is part of a collection.
When it is part of a collection, the name will be shown here.  Clicking the icon next to the collection name will show you which other IPDb puzzles belong to that collection.

Brand & Pieces Count

Similarly, the puzzle brand is displayed on the following line, accompanied by the same icon and the number of pieces.  Pressing the icon will give you a list of all IPDb puzzles from the same brand.

Brand Logo

Under the brand name, the brand's logo is displayed—provided IPDb has written permission to show it. Some brands have granted permission, while others have not, so the logo may or may not be visible. Fortunately, most brands allow their logos to be included.

Box and Puzzles Images
Even though a record can contain multiple images, the details screen only displays one main image as the reference for the puzzle.  However, the number of images is displayed below the main image, and you can scroll through the images by clicking the small left and right arrow icons. The main image typically appears at the forefront during puzzle insertion and editing.

Wishlist, Completed Status and Ratings

At a glance, it is easy to see if the puzzle has been added to your wish list, if you have completed the puzzle (the tick box will be blue if you have), and any ratings the puzzle has received.

Categories and Tags

Do you enjoy certain puzzle themes, or puzzles of a certain topic?
Categories are a great way to see other puzzles with the same theme, and tags will provide some more specific options to narrow your search (eg Cat)

Additional Puzzle Information

You'll find all remaining details about the puzzle. Many entries feature a small icon next to them - clicking it allows you to explore other puzzles with those same features.

Submission Details

At the very bottom, you'll see the name of the user who originally submitted the puzzle and the date of submission. While all IPDb users share access to puzzle records, the original submitter remains the caretaker of that entry.
The message bubble icon on this line allows you to drop the original submitter a line if you have a query about the puzzle, or if any corrections need to be made.  Once submitted, you can then track your message / any responses in the Message section in the Settings Screen (cog icon).

Reviews & your own Ratings

Below the submitter's name is the Rating section, where you can rate the puzzle based on overall quality and difficulty. Additionally, you have the option to write a review.

Ratings and reviews help fellow users decide whether to try or purchase a puzzle—so the more ratings and reviews, the better! However, only rate puzzles you are personally familiar with. See more here.

At the bottom of the dialogue, you’ll find a list of all reviews submitted for this puzzle. If there are none, this section will remain empty. If reviews exist, this is where you can read user insights.

The full screen image viewer

To explore all images associated with a puzzle, simply click or tap the displayed image in the puzzle details screen. This will open a full-screen viewer for a clearer, more detailed look.

Navigating Images

In the upper-left corner of the image viewer, you'll see an indicator showing which image you're currently viewing (e.g., 1 of 2). You can cycle through images using the left/right arrows positioned either side of the image.

Closing the Viewer

To exit the full-screen image view and return to the puzzle details, use the X button in the upper-right corner.

Selecting a Main Image

In the lower-right corner, you'll find a main image selection button (picture icon with a tick) —click or tap this to set your preferred image for the puzzle. Your chosen image will appear in puzzle list views, the detail view, and anywhere else this puzzle is displayed.

Sharing & Image Types

In the lower-left corner, two sharing buttons allow you to distribute the image—read more about sharing here.

Additionally, you’ll see the image type selected for the active image. If none is assigned, you may be able to select one.  More info here.
