QUICK STEP GUIDES (more info and pics further down)
🔍 Adding Missing Information
If a record is incomplete—like a missing title, image, or piece count—here’s how to help:
- Click the Edit button (Pencil icon) or the 4 square icon + Edit Puzzle on the record.
- Fill in the blank fields with the info you know.
- Save your changes at the bottom.
💌 The original submitter will be notified of your update.
📌 Only add details you’re sure about—check your own puzzle, reliable sites, or ask the community!
✏️ Fixing Incorrect Details
Spotted an error? Maybe the brand is wrong or a year was mistyped.
- Go to the record details screen.
- Tap on the info that is incorrect - and write a message to the user as to what you believe the correct info should be.
- Double-check facts before sending.
📬 The original submitter will be notified here too.
✅ Be factual. Be precise. Be kind—everyone makes mistakes!
Adding missing information
Occasionally, you might notice that a record contains incorrect or outdated details. This could be something small—like a typo in the title—or more significant, such as the wrong manufacturer or missing piece count.
If you are confident that the information is incorrect and you have reliable sources to support your correction (such as your own puzzle, reputable websites, or trusted community knowledge), you can:
PC: click the edit button (Pencil Icon) for that record
Mobile devices: tap the 4 square icon, and select Edit Puzzle

This will take you to the Edit Puzzle screen.

In the edit form, make the necessary changes in the relevant fields. It’s helpful to keep your edits factual and precise. When you’re finished, click save at the bottom of the form.
The original submitter (in this example Danielle_West), will be notified that a change was made to their puzzle listing.
Adding missing information to records ensures that puzzle records will be as comprehensive as possible, resulting in the puzzle being much easier to locate by other users.
However, please be mindful to only add information that you are sure of, and perhaps have double checked with other sources (Your own puzzle, Google searches etc.)
Changing existing information
As you may have noticed in the edit form above, all fields with existing information was inactive/disabled/greyed out and hence cannot be edited in the same way, as when adding new information.
When changing existing information, the procedure is a bit more complicated, as we believe it is fair to give the user who originally submitted the puzzle a chance to discuss the change.
For this reason, the procedure will be for you to send a request to change the information to the submitter of the puzzle, and let her either accept or deny your suggestion.
If she accepts your change, the change will be implemented by IPDb within 24 hours automatically.
If she deny your suggestion, she will be requested to explain why your suggestion is not valid.
If she does not react to your suggestion, she might have stopped using IPDb, your suggestion will be implemented automatically by IPDb within a month.
It is polite to answer change request as soon as possible.
You can follow the status of your suggestions in the new message box on the left, where they are listed by date (newest on top) for 2 months.

Changing information in the detail view
You can suggest change to any information in the puzzle detail view.
NOTE: Just like adding missing information, correcting existing data helps ensure IPDb remains an accurate and trustworthy resource for everyone in the puzzle community. As always, double-check your facts —and when in doubt, you can reach out to the community for input before suggesting the change.

On desktop computers you hold down the CTRL key and click on the information you would like to suggest a change to.
On mobile phones you do the same, by making a long press on the information you wish to suggest a change to.
There is no wwrong information in above example, but if I wanted to suggest a change to the name to something else, You need to move the mouse to where it says Milk Tooth...

Notice that on desktop computers, the cursor will change to the edit cursor and a tooltip will tell you what to do to change the value.
When doing as instructed, you will see this dialog

The field you want to change is prefilled as you clicked the information with your mouse, and the existing value of the name is also filled into the title edit box, but you should change it to what you beleive is the right value.
Optionally you can write a small message to the original submitter, to explain why you suggest this change.
Once you hit OK, your job is done.

You can follow progress in your request messsage box

But you will also get a normal message in your inbox, when submitter accept/deny your request and if she accepts, another mail once your suggestion is implemented.
The change form will look different, depending on the information, but the input method is that of the normal edit form when adding new puzzles.
This is how you suggest change to a brand...

Or dimension of the puzzle

Try to avoid changing in between cm and inches, as the original submitter most likely has a reason to choose the measurement system she did, when she originally added the puzzle.
Suggest changes to the imagetype
Removing existing information
Naturally you can remove information such as an artist by simply suggestion to change the name given to an empty string, and thereby removeing that information.
But you can also remove wrongly given puzzle categories or features, in much the same way as when suggesting a change.
To remove a category, click the emoji of the category while holding down the CTRL key (long press on mobile phones)

Once you do, you are given the oppertunity to give a reason, before you hit OK to submit your request

Once the request to remove this category is saved, it is handled in the same way as other change requests.
Changing information in the edit form
The edit form has disabled all edit fields with existing information. To submit a change to such value is very similar to the operation described above.
Move you mouse to the grayed out edit field and click while holding down the CTRL key (long press for mobile devices)

Once you click the same form for saving your request appear.
IN the same way, if you want to remove an already selected category (or special feature) click the grayed out category

and again the procedure that follows is the same.
Changing the imagetype
Sometimes we come across images that has been labeled wrongly in our opinion.
This especially happens when new image types are introduced.
To request a change to an image type, follow same procedure as described above, click the grayed out image type you beleive to be the right one, while holding down the CTRL button. (longpress for mobile devices)

And supply an explanation for it

Changing an image
Sometimes images are submitted to IPDb, which could need a little attention. Perhaps the cropping or rotation was wrong, and the submitter forgot to change it.
If you come across such image, open it in the full screen viewer and look for this button

If you hit this button you will enter the croptool, where all the tools for making the image better is available

In above example I aligned the box slightly and cropped away some of the background. When hitting the checkmark I can explain my edit to the submitter.

And all that remain is to hit OK to submit the request for changing the image.
Responsing to a change request
It just may happen that somebody else will suggest a change to some of the information you gave when you submitted a puzzle.
You will see the request in the request message box

Note the red bubble on the request message box, it indicates that request was made to you, and you should probably respond to them asap, to not let other users wait too long.
Note also the 2 buttons at the bottom which allows you to accept or deny a erequest with a single click.
If you accept the change of value will be done automatically by IPDb within 24 hours, no need for you to go find the puzzle and start editing. In fact we discourage that.
If you deny you are asked to give an explanation why the change should not be implemented - try not to be too brief and stay polite at all times.
If you fail to reply to the requests within 28 days, the change will be implemented automatically.
