Sharing is...
caring about IPDb...

IPDb is run by donations and has no budget to do marketing to make people aware of the amazing resources we have created and are adding to every day.
For this reason, the only way to make this known is by word of mouth, and even if the admin group try, to do as much as we can on social media, we really would like your help to let people know about IPDb.
After all, the more people that know about and use IPDb, the bigger it will grow, and that will benefit, all of us.
This is why we try to add, as many features as possible to IPDb, to allow you to share on social media etc.
In this article, we will mention a few...
Sharing a great search
Imagine you wanted to share your collection or another list of puzzles. This can be achieved by using the Share button above the list of puzzles marked in red...

IPDb will then prompt you to enter a relevant description of the list of puzzles

Once you click/tap OK, IPDb will put a link to this list, onto your clipboard. You can put this link anywhere by clicking CTRL+V or select, edit + paste in most programs.
The link can be made part of a Facebook post

The picture and detail will automatically appear in your post when you paste the link into the text of your post. What is even more, important is that, if your friends click/tap on your image, they will see a nice page presenting your list of puzzles.

Here, each of the images will show for 5 seconds at a time. If the user clicks/taps the 'Open in IPDb' button they will see the full list inside the normal user interface.
Sharing a list of puzzles is good for many purposes, you can show your collection, your wishlist, or a search showing the puzzles you have found.
Sharing a single puzzle
If you want to share just one puzzle the method is almost, the same. First, you find the puzzle, then click/tap the Share button.

Your Facebook post will look similar to this...

And once the link is clicked/tapped, it will look like this...

The image used for sharing is the standard image for that record. If you want to use another image for sharing, you should open the full-screen image viewer, scroll to the image you wish to use then click/tap the Share button in the lower-right corner.

The Share button (image share) to the left of the normal Share button in the screenshot above will share only the image, not a link. This is good for sharing on Instagram which does not accept sharing of links. When you use this button, the image is shared with the built-in sharing functionality (which works best on mobile platforms) and a suitable caption for the image (name, brand and pieces), is put onto your clipboard for you to paste into your post.
Sharing your completed puzzles
You may already have noticed that IPDb will send you a completion badge every 2nd of the month for all the puzzles you completed the month before. The completion badges look like this:

But, did you know that you can create your very own completion badges? You will find this feature in the burger menu in the upper-left corner.

From this form, you can select which people should be included, and for what period the badge should cover. In addition, you can choose a background colour, or even better, a background image and font colour.
Once you are happy with your badge, you can either, download the image and share it yourself or hit the share button and share it directly from inside IPDb.
Please share...
If you are missing some sharing options, please let us know. We love it when you share. Sharing creates interest, interest grows IPDb and we all benefit from that!
