Listview Design has changed

This is the most prominent change and you will notice it right away when starting IPDb V2. The Listview is wider, using the full width of your screen (if on a PC), and the list items are also bigger, giving space to a much bigger puzzle thumbnail.

The listview is also longer, or pageless, so all the puzzles from your search will be available by simply scrolling down - no more next page/previous page in IPDb.

Besides the larger image, the individual List item also has some information which, is now available.  You will see the title of the puzzle at the top, and the brand and number of pieces underneath. In addition, you will see the number of people who have this puzzle on their wish list and completed list, the number of reviews the puzzle has received, and how it rates.

At the top of the search result list, you will see a toolbar which enables you to share the list on your social network or export it as a CSV or a PDF file.

In the upper-left corner, you will find the filter/sorting features. Filtering allows you to see only parts of the puzzle list from your search - this is particularly useful if you have a private folder with many items and perhaps want to see only the puzzles in that folder from a certain brand. Sorting is useful if you wish to display your search ordered by brand and, or pieces, or something else.

Searching has changed

The search facility of IPDb has changed entirely. Instead of offering several varieties of pre-set combined file searches, you can now search for any combination of fields you wish.

The search feature offers a pop-up list as you type your parameters to show you the possible values you might be interested in. You can choose from the list to narrow down your list or leave the text you typed in, and receive all puzzles from that list when clicking/tapping the search button.

Before searching, you can decide how to order your search results via a field at the bottom of the form. You can order your results by multiple fields, for example first, by brand and then by pieces. This will arrange your results in groups of puzzles from the same brand, and within each group, puzzles are ordered by pieces.

The number of records that will be returned will also be displayed at the bottom of the search screen. You are welcome to ask for large lists but be warned that it does take a lot of time to receive big numbers of puzzles, especially on low-speed networks.

Folder View has changed

The Folder View has changed slightly, mainly the personal folders.

Each of your folders now has a 3 horizontal dots button, which allows you to set up your folders. You no longer need to go to the settings section to set up folders - it is done right here.

In the setup dialogue, you can change the name and subtitle, plus select a Custom icon for your folder.

You can also assign a colour to the icon. This will make it easier to identify the different folders. You can also delete a folder you no longer need from this dialogue.

You can add more custom folders using the ‘Add Folder’

Your Account now shows your levels

The account section in the settings screen looks a little different as well.

You can still change your display name, and take a photo or choose an emoji as your avatar. In addition, you can see your member level. Using the donation section just below can change your level.

The new feature is the line of badges, which shows which badges you have in terms of puzzles added to IPDb, how many puzzles you have rated and how many reviews you have written. If you click/tap on any badge, you can see the top-ten scoreboard for each category.

Thanks for supporting IPDb

IPDb was conceptualised in July 2023, as an idea, why don’t we…
and in next to no time, we had the first version out, and from then on it just went crazy. The interest has been tremendous, and we are truly grateful for the support and help we have received from everybody.

More than 13000 puzzles have been submitted since IPDb's inception, and the number keeps growing and growing.

We hope this new version will also be well received - we are quite happy about it, and believe it makes it even easier to enjoy the basic idea of IPDb to check out the big world of puzzles, or even find the next new puzzle to add to your wish list.

The volunteer team behind IPDb works night and day to keep IPDb alive.  You can find them by selecting any of the icons above in your account and clicking/tapping the red Admin badge, as in the picture above.  You will certainly find us (IPDb) in the scoreboards, but we hope you will eventually push us out of them :-)

Whilst the manpower to maintain and support the site is provided for free by the team, the actual site hosting and associated storage costs are not free. So if you would like to contribute to cover some of this cost, please click/tap the donation box, and give what you can. All donations will go directly to the technical operational cost of keeping the site live.
